ACT San Diego (Associated Community Theatres of San Diego County) is a 501 (c)(3) organization run by volunteers dedicated to creating a community for our community. We provide a space for local, nonprofit, community theaters to come together and communicate, collaborate, and celebrate.  We also are the forum for the judges for the annual Aubrey Awards each year.  2027 will be the 61rst Awards Season for ACT San Diego. 

What do the Board and Members do?

We host monthly or bimonthly meetings attended by our ACT board, representatives from our member theatres, and individual contributor members, to share information, help grow ACT as a resource, and plan events like scholarship fundraisers and our annual Aubrey Awards.  Our committees develop and produce various programs and events that grow the shared resources vitally needed by our member theatres.  ACTSDC is a thriving and growing organisation driven by our shared love for exciting live theatre.  

Who are our Member Theatres?

Our current member theatres are: Lamplighters Community Theatre, Patio Playhouse Community & Youth Theater, Point Loma Playhouse, PowPAC Theatre, and Vanguard at Westminster Theatre.  Most of our member theatres have full seasons of productions, as well as special programs for Youth Theatre.   We are all proud to be part of the amazing community theatre scene in San Diego County. 

What is your Scholarship Program?

The ACT San Diego Scholarship Program was established in 1975 to promote and encourage higher education in the field of theatre arts. The Scholarship is awarded yearly to high school seniors and college students majoring in any of the theatre arts.

What Are the Aubrey Awards ?

The Aubrey Awards Celebration is an annual event to celebrate  those creators and performers and staff whom our ACTSDC Judges (interested in being a judge, message us!) have selected for their particularly outstanding work. Those who are  identified by the Judges in each category become Aubrey Nominees.  They are announced at a Nominees Party, usually held around July. In August, the Aubrey Awards Celebration gala is held to present an Aubrey trophy to the persons that received the most accolades from the Judges in their category.
